Description

Introducing our exceptional Afghani rug, showcasing a stunning design known as Arabesque. This rug originates from Afghanistan and embodies a tribal style. The background of this rug features a sleek silver hue, while the border is elegantly adorned with a slate color. The main color theme of this rug is a sophisticated shade of grey.

Crafted with utmost care, this rug is made using wool on a cotton foundation. The ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, meticulously handcrafted this rug. The wool used comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that yields longer staple oily higher quality wool. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is hand carted and spun into carpet yarn.

This rug is woven on traditional floor looms in the comfort of the weavers' own homes, showcasing the true essence of a cottage industry. The weaving technique employed is the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type. It features a cotton warp and weft, with a luxurious wool pile.

Thanks to its double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving, this rug boasts incredible durability. Its longevity is enhanced by centuries-old all-natural dyes, ensuring the colors remain vibrant and fade-resistant over time.

Mostly woven in Aqucha and Mazar Sharif, this rug utilizes 2-ply yarn per knot. With a remarkable knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, we have precisely calculated that this rug features a total of 276,614 individually hand-tied knots.

This unique rug is sized at 4'2" x 5'10", making it a perfect addition to any space seeking an exquisite blend of tradition and artistry.
