Description

Introducing our exquisite rug, originating from Afghanistan and showcasing the timeless design of Bakshaish Willow. This transitional-style rug features a captivating background in beige, complemented by a vibrant blue border, creating a visually appealing contrast. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this rug is truly a work of art.

Handwoven by skilled Afghan Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is made from 100% wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region naturally produces longer staple, oily, and high-quality wool, perfect for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then carefully brought to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is hand-carted and spun into carpet yarn.

Using traditional floor looms, the weavers diligently create this rug in their own homes, following centuries-old techniques. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and cotton warp and weft (wool pile) contribute to the rug's durability. With double wefting and a heavily packed depressed warp weaving structure, this handwoven masterpiece ensures longevity.

For color enthusiasts, the blue hues of this rug are derived from natural indigo dyes. These dyes, also known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo, have been used by humans for thousands of years. The leaves of the indigo plant are carefully processed to create vibrant and captivating blue shades, adding a touch of timeless elegance to this rug.

Measuring at 4'11" x 6'10", this rug is perfectly sized to enhance any room. With 80 knots per square inch, it showcases the intricate craftsmanship and attention to detail. In fact, we calculated that this rug boasts an impressive 382,359 individually hand-tied knots in total.

Immerse yourself in the richness of Afghan culture and craftsmanship with this exceptional rug. Its Afghani roots, combined with the Bakshaish Willow design and transitional style, make it a unique addition to any interior space. Experience the enduring beauty and quality of this rug, meticulously handcrafted with love and tradition.
