Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, featuring a stunning erased arabesque design. This transitional style piece showcases a regal violet background, perfectly complemented by a grass-colored border. Crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail, this rug is truly a work of art.
Originating from Afghanistan, this rug is handwoven by skilled Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in its creation is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, renowned for their high-quality, long staple, and oily wool. This natural terrain facilitates the production of superior carpet weaving materials.
To prepare the wool for the weaving process, it is transported to the western side of Afghanistan, specifically Herat, where it undergoes hand carding and spinning to create the carpet yarn. The rug is then woven on traditional floor looms, utilizing the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type technique.
The rug boasts a wool pile, woven onto a cotton warp and weft, resulting in a durable and long-lasting piece. Its double-wefted construction, combined with heavily-packed depressed warp weaving, enhances its strength and resilience. With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162, our meticulous calculation reveals a staggering 3,159,342 individually hand-tied knots throughout the rug.
Drawing upon centuries-old traditions, this rug is dyed using all-natural substances, ensuring a rich and vibrant color palette. The expertise of the weavers in the Karam Kul district of Andkhoi lends itself to a higher knot count, adding to the intricate detail and quality of this exceptional piece.
Measuring 9'10" x 13'10", this rug is the epitome of elegance and sophistication. Its unique design and impeccable craftsmanship make it a coveted addition to any space. Indulge in the beauty of this Afghani rug, a testament to the rich cultural heritage and extraordinary skill of its creators.
