Description

Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan! This stunning piece is crafted with the Ottoman design, showcasing a transitional style that seamlessly combines traditional and modern elements. Its background comes in a rich persimmon hue, adding a warm and vibrant touch to any space. The border, on the other hand, features a camel shade, creating a beautiful contrast that enhances the overall aesthetic appeal.

This rug is lovingly made by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. They source all the wool from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain naturally produces longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and spinning into carpet yarn.

Using traditional floor looms in their own homes, the weavers skillfully create this masterpiece. The weaving technique employed is an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, ensuring the utmost precision and durability. The warp and weft are made with cotton, while the luxurious pile is crafted from soft and luxurious wool. The double weft and heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique result in a rug that is exceptionally durable, standing the test of time.

To add to its charm, this rug features centuries-old natural dye stuffs, giving it a unique and authentic appeal. The rug's origin in Afghanistan, specifically from the Karam Kul district of Andkhoi, is renowned for its highly skilled weavers who are known for their expertise in achieving higher knot counts.

Speaking of knot counts, our rug boasts an impressive 104 knots per square inch, reflecting the dedication and craftsmanship poured into its creation. Incredibly, we have calculated that this item has a total of 966,200 individually hand-tied knots, a testament to the meticulous attention given to each detail.

With a size of 6'8" x 9'9", this rug is perfect for adding a touch of elegance to any room. Its versatile design and high-quality construction make it an ideal choice for both traditional and contemporary settings.

Experience the beauty and craftsmanship of this exceptional rug from Afghanistan. Its rich history, impeccable design, and superior quality make it a valuable addition to any collection.
