Description

Introducing our exquisite rug, originating from Afghanistan, known for its rich history and extraordinary craftsmanship. This rug features a traditional Sultanabad design, showcasing the skilled artistry of Afghan weavers.

The background of the rug is a soothing ivory, highlighting the intricate details of the design. The border, on the other hand, boasts a vibrant teal hue, adding a touch of contrast and elegance. The main color theme throughout the rug remains ivory, creating a harmonious and timeless appeal.

Crafted with care, the rug is made using a wool-on-cotton content, ensuring both durability and a luxurious feel. The size of our masterpiece is 12'1" X 17'9", providing an ideal fit for larger spaces.

The origins of the wool used in this rug can be traced back to the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. Here, the mountainous terrain naturally produces longer staple, high-quality wool, making it the perfect choice for carpet weaving. The wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes hand carding and spinning to create yarn of exceptional quality.

Using traditional floor looms, skilled artisans weave the rug in their own homes, ensuring each piece is crafted with utmost care and attention to detail. The rug features an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, further enhancing its authenticity and allure. The cotton warp and weft provide a sturdy foundation, creating a durable and long-lasting rug.

The rug is adorned with centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs, bringing forth a timeless appeal and vibrant colors that will withstand the test of time.

It is important to note that this rug is woven in Aqucha and Mazar Sharif, with each knot consisting of 2-ply yarn for added strength and resilience. With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug showcases the immense skill and patience of the weavers who meticulously hand-tie each knot. Calculations based on the KPSI reveal that this rug comprises 2,440,909 individually hand-tied knots.

Embrace the elegance and artistry of Afghan craftsmanship with this remarkable rug, a true testament to the rich heritage and traditions of rug weaving.
